Seppel Classic
Character Description

Seppel is Kasper’s sidekick and best friend.  He is
easygoing, occasionally clever, and strong.  He never
passes up a good meal.  Seppel scares easily and
reluctantly goes on risky adventures with Kasper.  He
symbolizes the child and all of his/her fears.  For
example, he may fear the dentist or be reluctant to try new
foods.  In Kasper Theater, he often discovers that things
are not as bad as they may seem.   Whereas Kasper is
the classic hero, Seppel is the archetype of the common
man capable of performing heroic deeds.  Children most
closely identify themselves with Seppel and Gretel.
Seppel is the diminutive form of Joseph in southern
Germany.  Hence, the name Joey can be substituted for
American children.
